Berwick get the victory on highly charged Saturday

In front of a crowd of around the 700 mark, Berwick survived a late scare from Edinburgh City to move on to 40 points and 8th place in the league, achieving their Division Two status. Cowdenbeath now face East Kilbride Thistle in the relegation play off on 13 and 20 May. Congrats. to Arbroath on lifting the title and in the play off’s for Division One, Forfar face Annan and Montrose meet Peterhead both over 2 legs. Stenhousemuir were relegated from Division One.

Berwick were dominant in the opening half and goals from Darren Lavery (see pic) and Greg Rutherford inside the opening half hour looked to have set them up for a comfortable win. However when Rutherford went off with an ankle injury mid way through the second half, Berwick seemed to lose their control and City controlled for the next 25 minutes and following two corners, their Hibs loanees Lewis Allan then Ryan Porteous pulled them level. However into added on time sub David Verlaque broke clear for Berwick down the right and slotted home past Calum Antell to give Rangers the victory.
